ABIDE IN GOD

BIBLE STUDY LESSON

TITLE: ABIDE IN GOD
READING: PSALMS 91:1 | PSALMS 91:4-7 | JOHN 8:31-32 | JOHN 5:38-39
BONUS: JOHN 15:5

In this reading we will study
the joy, mercy and peace
when we Abide in God.

The definition of Abide:
is to accept or act in accordance.

In order for us to be good
bondservants for the Lord
we must Abide in the Lord.

PSALM 91:1
This is a Psalm of Abiding in the Lord,
asking God to take us under His wing.

Before we can be bonded by the Lord,
we must bind to the Lord.

Our spirit is like a notebook,
and God, the Son and the Spirit
are the 3 binders holding
our salvation together.

Abiding by the word of God,
Abiding to the example of Jesus,
Abiding to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

So we must listen + pay attention
when God is talking and signaling.

The key is to keep God’s word.
God’s word is more than the Bible,
it is in us, because God sends it to us.

PSALMS 91:4-7
Shows us when we Abide in God,
we are protected from the attacks
in the morning, noon and night.

When God takes you under his wing
it becomes a divine thing.

We keep getting calls from politicians,
all over the world leaders want people to follow them,
but the problem is…
Who are they following?

They tell us to Abide by the Law!?
But… Who’s Law?

JOHN 8:31-32
Tells us to
Abide by God’s Law.
Because God’s word is Law.

Now that we are living in a new age,
they say follow the laws of the land,
but if that law doesn’t have God in it,
it’s just words from man.

Praise the new day,
not the new age.

You can’t write a new testament
to the New Testament.
Everything in the New Testament
must line up with Old Testament,
that’s God’s Law.

JOHN 5:38-39
Shows us the dangers of being
Bonded vs. Non-Binary for God.

If we don’t Abide,
we will backslide.

When we were bonded to God,
we were under covered.
When we are not under His wing,
it is a scary thing.

This is the slippery slope:
Not bonded to God,
Not Abiding in God,
but asking for help from God,
isn’t fair to God.

You can’t leave the umbrella
and cry about the rain,
risking everyone else
for selfish gain.

+ BONUS:
JOHN 15:5
Shows us that
the more we Abide,
the stronger the vine.

It takes us back to our definition,
because we accept God,
and act accordingly for God,
we are connected to God
like a vine.

So, as we go into a new week,
let us not divide,
but help each other
Abide in God. Amen
