BIBLE STUDY LESSON
TITLE: HEALING
READING: Matthew 4:23 | Malachi 4:1-3 | Revelations 22:2 | 1 Corinthians 12:9 | Luke 4:23
KEY VERSE: Ecclesiastes 3:3
In this reading we will study the power of Healing.
When I was young, I was always amazed how I would cut myself and it will heal a few days later. That let me know that God was always with me. In this lesson I will share (3) testimonies where God not only healed my body, but he also healed my Mind + Soul as well.
We are going to start off with the book of Ecclesiastes, in the 3rd Chapter it discusses that it’s a time and a place for everything.
ECCLESIASTES 3:3
We pray for strength during the fight but now that the fight is over, it’s now time to start praying for healing. Pray for strength in your healing and pray for a time for your healing.
Although God works fast, healing takes times time and it’s a process.
In this lesson we will focus on 3 factors of healing:
The Cut | The Scab | The Healing
THE CUT
Have you been cut so deep that you feel like you can’t heal? Or better yet, are there somethings in your life that you need to cut off? Let’s go to the word:
MATTHEW 4:23
Tell us that Jesus healed all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.
You see, sometimes the sickness isn’t just a cough.
Sometime the sickness is in our hearts or our thoughts.
I experienced this when I was hospitalized for a month when my appendix bussed. As God’s healed my body, he started to heal my mind. I start to focus on who was there for me and what was meant for me. Because of this experience I realized that it was things that I had to stop eating.
It’s some things that we are not ready to cut out of our lives. But when God’s says it’s time, he will cut things out of our life. You can’t put a Band-Aid on before the cut. So, the cut must take place, in-order for the healing to take place.
THE SCAB
A scab is God’s protection while God is working.
MALACHI 4:1-3
Tells us that is power in the cutting because when God does the cutting, it’s protection over the cut.
When my arm got sliced open at event while helping a friend out, I learned that you can’t lead a helping hand to everybody. Why do I say that?
PART ONE:
Because some people just need you
close enough to clip your wings.
PART TWO:
For this experience this was a scab
that I was picking at and
didn’t even know it.
You see, God had already cut somebody out my life and I was in a healing process. But before the scab could form, I was back picking at the scab. But when my arm got sliced open, as I was laying on the ground waiting for the ambulance, the scab started to form. I realized that I was going back to something God had already cut out of my life and this was his final warning.
When God has healed you,
why pick at the scab.
When you hide your scars,
you hide God’s work.
THE HEALING
REVELATIONS 22:2
Tells us that the Tree of Life’s leaves
are for the healing of the nation.
So, in our lives, we need to produce good fruits. When we produce good fruits in our hearts and our works, we create good leaves to tinkle down or fall upon others.
When I stepped off the forklift at work and stepped into a pothole, I learned a valuable lesson. When you produce good fruit in life, not only can it heal you but it can heal others around you. This was my Scab. Because I was hurt but looked to God, it planted the seed to get the entire yard repaved and protection for future workers. So, the yard is my Scar, a testimony to God’s work. This is healing.
1 CORINTHIANS 12:9
Tells us that healing is a spiritual gift from God.
So, when your loved ones go to the doctor, Pray for their healing.
LUKE 4:23
Tells the physician to heal himself then go and heal others.
So, let us also Pray to strengthen the gift that’s inside of the doctor, so God may be with that doctor. When someone become a doctor, they are under the authority of God so the must operate under God.
+ BONUS
ECCLESIASTES 3:3
Is a short and powerful verse. This verse should be digested in two parts:
FIRST PART:
“A time to kill, And a time to heal”
Tells us it’s a time to fight,
then there’s a time to heal.
But how do we heal?
SECOND PART:
“A time to break down, And a time to build up”
Tells us that once God has cut something off,
we must break it down and allow him to rebuild.
True healing starts when we stop picking at scabs and start letting God do his work. It reminds me of that 90’s commercial. When its time to rebuild God is like Father & Son because no job is too big and no job is too small. God is the Master Carpenter; His Son is the Foreman, and the Holy Ghost is the workers that rebuild things His way.
So, don’t fear the cuts,
don’t pick the scabs and
trust in God’s healing. Amen
